Peter Evans Funeral Directors was founded in 1963 by Peter Evans or “Peter Plashett” as he was more affectionately known.
After serving his carpentry apprenticeship with the local carpenter and funeral director, he started out on his own, carrying out small carpentry jobs with only a tool bag and a push bike.
After some time, due to the fact he had the skills to make coffins and because he had assisted his former boss with funerals when required, Peter started being asked to arrange funerals locally, and so, Peter Evans Funeral Directors was formed. Over the past 60 years the business has grown steadily but is still run by Peter’s family and is still based at the family’s home in Plashett.
